At Double Eye, we develop and license our own IP as well as have clients who outsource their development requirements to us and trust that we will guide them toward the most suitable technologies and deliver the best quality applications - which we do!
We're about 35 tech enthusiasts organised in six Scrum teams. Each team, and thus the product owner (PO), works on one to a couple of projects. For each project, the PO represents the client and their interests, ensuring the team delivers value where it is most wanted.
The PO is responsible for eliciting the requirements from the client and distil them into deliverable user stories with complete acceptance criteria. He/she must convey to the team a clear vision of what we are trying to achieve, as well as ensure quality of delivery.
As a member of the Scrum team, the PO is expected to adhere to the Agile principles, demonstrate high availability to the client as well as the team, have a lot of business and technical savvy as well as good communication skills.
The key responsibilities of the PO are:
Create and communicate a clear and engaging product vision to the team.
Gather requirements and translate them into a well organised and readable product backlog.
Prioritise the backlog according to client expectations, business value and ROI.
Negotiate disputes about requirements and priority.
Refine product backlog items just-in-time. Write acceptance criteria, create process flow diagrams and wireframes when necessary.
Support the development team by ensuring that the requirements are always clear.
Ensure that acceptance criteria are met, accept/reject deliverables and provide feedback.
Ensure quality of delivery is acceptable from the client and end-users' point of view.
Continuously engage the client to ensure the team is building the right product.
Manage clients' change requests and expectations.
Help deploy product releases and coordinate this with the client.
Passion for business analysis and UI design
Understanding of the mechanics of Scrum and how the Product Owner role fits in
Very good listening and communication skills - ability to build a relationship with clients as well as with the team based on trust and respect
Previous experience as product owner, business analyst, digital project manager or software QA tester
