A dynamic financial solutions company in the southern suburbs invites a data analyst to join its team. The ideal candidate must possess a BCom, BSc. or postgrad degree in finance/maths or statistics with at least two years’ data analysis experience in the finance or similar industry. Your role will also include planning and optimising direct marketing campaign growth and profits while generating sufficient and quality applications to meet production objectives.

Duties:

Creates solutions to meet customer demands
  • Review, improve, and implement customer service solutions in line with company policies and shared values.
  • Communicate how the customer service solution will be implemented and secures buy-in.
  • Build customer trust and loyalty.
  • Resolve customer dissatisfaction/complaints and takes ownership of the problem.

Ensures customer excellence through interaction with internal and external customers throughout all business activities
  • Adheres to the organisation's shared values and service standards.
  • Ensures that product knowledge and advice is technically accurate.

Ensures continuous process improvement to enable effective operational processes
  • Implement business processes according to benchmarks and the Shared Values.
  • Review and report on the performance of business processes.
  • Analyse the internal service delivery processes and come up with innovative ideas and/or participate in working groups to improve and streamline processes, increase revenue, drive efficiencies and minimise redundancy and waste.

Mines, queries, and analyses datasets
  • Query, clean, and mine large data sets, connecting data from disparate sources to identify insights and patterns.
  • Conduct statistical analysis, such as linear and logistic regression, time-series analysis, and classification models and deliver accurate and high-quality analysis (e.g. NPV modelling, test design and analysis, risk modelling).
  • Apply company, group and relevant industry knowledge to analysis and insights.
  • Develop improved methodologies and methods for accessing, analysing and presenting data: research new data sources and analytical tools with the aim of improving the process and underlying data analysis.

Focus on ensuring quality application targets are delivered
  • Past performance by campaign, by month including variance reporting and trends.
  • Segmentation and campaign workflows.
  • Sizing of opportunities including future forecasting.
  • ROI optimisation including segmentation, frequency.
  • Understanding and explaining variances.
  • Responsible for applying future forecasting at a channel level and distribution of applications.
  • Manage risks relating to data analysis processes.
  • Document management.
  • Version control, change sizing and reporting.

Additional duties include:
  • Perform statistical analysis to inform business decisions.
  • Conduct trend analysis.
  • Participates in planned activities that are appropriate for own development.
  • Promotes teamwork amongst peers and team members.

Requirements:

Qualifications
  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • BCom or BSc degree or postgrad degree with finance/maths/statistics.

Experience

Two to three years' experience
  • Data analyst in the financial industry or similar industry.
  • MIS experience
  • SQL
  • Advanced Excel
  • Applying mathematics/formulas to real-world problems.
