Job description

A leading reputation management company requires a business director with solid experience in communication; reputation and crises management, at both board and international level. 

Purpose of job: 

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing corporate reputations, as well as overseeing and managing the crisis team. Writing and implementing communication strategies, communication plans as well as overseeing all aspects of the communications team.

Key result areas
:           

Management:
  • Manage members of the team, including, work allocation and performance management
  • Engage on daily basis with staff to gauge progress on each client
  • Weekly status meetings
  • Daily updates 
  • Ensure media database is updated on an ongoing basis
Client liaison and/or account management
  • Daily interaction with clients and management of clients' expectations
  • Attend status meetings with all clients
  • Draft agendas
  • Provide feedback to staff after client meetings and manage outputs accordingly
  • Prepare monthly client reports
  • Oversee drafting of staff reports after client visits
  • Alert clients of issues which could potentially have an impact on their business
  • Provide advice to client on issues affecting their business
  • Advise clients on crisis communications and manage the crisis on behalf of clients
  • Prepare approach documents for specific clients as and when required
  • Advise clients on the full spectrum of stakeholder relationships i.e. identify stakeholders, develop strategies, develop key messages
  • Develop implementation plans aligned to the business objective of the clients
  • Pro-actively engage with the media to secure publicity on behalf of the client
  • Manage all inquiries from media
  • Ensure all media deadlines are met
  • Draft holding statements on behalf of clients
  • Brief writers for the writing of press releases/thought leadership articles (as well as being able to write press releases when required)
  • Write strategy documents
  • Create communication plans
  • Advise clients on social media platforms
  • Advise on stakeholder management, develop stakeholder management plans including developing key messages and identify the correct tools to communicate messages
  • Liaise with local and international media on a daily basis, including print, broadcast and online platforms, to build relationships
  • Identify networking and profile-building opportunities for clients
General
  • Media duty role on specific weekends
  • Regularly engage in the company’s social media platforms (website, Twitter, Facebook) and support
  • Provide guidance to the team in order to impart skills and upskill staff
Requirements
  • Honours degree/MBA preferable
  • Five+ years' experience in the role of business director with reputation management experience
  • Own transport essential

  • Good understanding of the national and international media landscape
  • Crisis management experience essential
  • Presentation skills – ability to present to board at international level essential
  • Very good business acumen
  • Strong strategic abilities 
  • Experience in management of a business division/company
