Leading corporate seeks the services of a product category manager for their IT and printing division. This role is based in Cape Town,
You will be responsible for the following:
Business - the product manager will above all else fulfill the role of a business function - focused on maximising business value from our clients product. Product managers should be obsessed with optimising a product to achieve the business goals while maximising return on investment.
You have to assimilate huge amounts of information - feedback from clients, quantitative data from your web analytics, research reports, market trends and statistics - you need to know everything about your market and your customer, and then mix all that information with a healthy dose of creativity to define a vision for your product. Your success, and that of your product, relies on every team member - from sales to developer - understanding that vision and being at least a little bit passionate about it as well.
The product manager is responsible for the product planning and execution throughout the product life cycle, including: gathering and prioritising product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with engineering, sales, marketing and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. The product manager's job also includes ensuring that the product supports the company's overall strategy and goals.
The product manager is expected to:
Define the product strategy and roadmap
Be an expert with respect to the competition
You'd be in charge of planning and developing the right marketing strategy to get the product noticed by the right people and secure their interest. This means you'd have to keep in touch with what your audience wants and know the best ways of speaking to them
With the market changing every day, you'll have to keep on top of research, checking the market, rival products and the success of your campaign. Your daily routine will be varied and also include overlooking product development and finding potential new customers
